It is February and Valentine’s Day is tomorrow! And our very own Sir Walter Wally, the Triangle’s favorite groundhog, has predicted an early spring for 2016. Wow, are we are all excited. Here in Apex, we are really looking forward to the warmer weather. It certainly looks like everything is coming up roses for all of our members. Many of the FFL24 team has done a great job of getting into a good workout routine to slim down or maintain the proper weight they need for a long life and great health.
We are happy our members are setting and reaching individual goal. While our bodies are getting stronger, they’re also earning other benefits. At Fit for Life 24, being fit can do more than help each member’s physique.
Check out these four important benefits, from our owner and personal trainers; workouts are always an investment:
- Working out is good for your mental health. Working out releases endorphins. What does that mean? An improved mood! If you are feeling stressed or worn out, hit the treadmill, or step right into our fitness class schedule. Working out can often boost mood and reduce anxiety levels.
- Deflect disease! Lower your risk of heart disease, prediabetes, type 2 diabetes, arthritis, and certain cancers by staying fit. Commit to two hours or more of “moderate-intensity aerobic activity” per week to claim the benefits. According to the CDC, “The more physical activity you do, the lower your risk will be.”
- Brain boost without the caffeine. Many people require a high level of focus to perform well in their careers or academic pursuits. Get a brain boost by working out. It’s proven to increase focus and energy. Feeling unproductive after work? Stop by Fit for Life 24 and sweat out the afternoon blues. Members who do it leave energized and rejuvenated, ready to take on the rest of the evening’s responsibilities. Even Forbes recognized the “6 Ways Exercise Makes You Smarter.” Plus, a prolonged active lifestyle has links to warding off diseases like Alzheimer ’s disease.
- Improved sleep quality. Tossing and turning or not feeling well-rested in the morning? A study concluded that those who put in “150 minutes of moderate to vigorous activity” each week reported a 65% “improvement in sleep quality.” Furthermore, those who were more active also felt more alert throughout the day.
Working out has a multitude of benefits. Before you skip your workout, think of how grateful your body will be if you commit to caring for it with consistent exercise. Have you noticed these benefits after your workout? Let us know on our Facebook page!
